Nevenka Koprivšek (1 June 1959 – 14 February 2021)

It is with shock and great sadness that we announce the sudden death of Nevenka Koprivšek, director of Bunker Ljubljana, a partner in the RESHAPE project. With her passing, Slovenian, Balkan and European performing arts lost a wonderful person, author, teacher, advocate and friend... A sharp thinker, full of dedication, love and empathy for the arts and artists, Nevenka's input has inspired and shaped RESHAPE and a tremendous amount of other collaborations. We will miss her greatly! In these sad moments, we express our condolences to Nevenka's family and close ones.

Nevenka Koprivšek was trained at Ecole Internationale de Theatre Jacques Lecoq in Paris. She started her professional career as actress then theatre director. She was artistic director of Glej Theatre (from 1989 to 1997), which is one of the first experimental theatres in Ljubljana. In 1997 she established a new independent organisation BUNKER and since then has been acting as the company’s director, amongst many other things conducting two contemporary performing arts festivals: Mladi levi in Ljubljana, known for its social and political engagement and Drugajanje (with and for young audience) in Maribor. Nevenka was involved or was a co-founder of many international networks and cooperation projects, such as IETM, Jungle Hunde, DBM, Balkan Express, Theorem, Imagine 2020, Sostenuto, Urban Heat and Create To Connect. She was on the advisory board of Euro-Mediterranean Anna Lindth foundation, co-founder of Fond Roberto Cimetta and was on the board of Assemblée des Citoyens et Citoyennes de la Méditerranée. Nevenka was teaching at School of Arts at the University of Nova Gorica and was certified practitioner and active teacher of Feldenkrais method of awareness through movement.
